New Designers

I was lucky enough to be one of the ten chosen from my course to have the chance to exhibit my final major project collection at New Designers 2012. There was some gorgeous textile work from other universities and colleges around the country which was very inspiring and its nice to see what other people are doing! Our stand  and students got lots of positive feedback from the industry about the work which is great and makes all the hard work feel worth while :)

What I've been up to!

Over the past few weeks I have been very busy working on final designs digitally and in the print rooms and preparing work to be sent off to Printsource New York where CCAD is exhibiting for the first time. I am really enjoying experimenting in the print rooms with new fabrics and using my fabulous printing inks from Permaset who have kindly sponsored me for my final major project! Their inks give a really vibrant colour, are environmentally friendly and are great for all textiles and art projects. Have a look on their website they have such a good range of colours and products from metallics to glow in the dark inks.

A Day Sampling in the Print Room

A few samples from my first design, I really enjoy working in the print room experimenting with colour, dyes and fabrics! I think my samples with the busier more textured backgrounds work best out of them all. Love seeing my designs on fabric :)

Design Development

I have started to develop my drawings into designs. For my FMP i want my collection to be varied and versatile including repeat patterns, placement prints, ditsy prints and experimenting with scale within my designs. Here are a few images of my first design.
