I have started to develop my drawings into designs. For my FMP i want my collection to be varied and versatile including repeat patterns, placement prints, ditsy prints and experimenting with scale within my designs. Here are a few images of my first design.

I have just returned from a three day trip to Paris! On Wednesday I visited the Premier Vision Trade Show with the intention of gaining inspiration for my prints for final major project but also to hand out some CV's in the hope of getting possible future work placements with a print studio. Firstly I headed to Indigo where studios from all over the world who design fashion prints, embroideries, knits, vintage and archive patterns show their collections. It was really great to see what is happening within the industry. I made lots of new contacts and people seemed to like my CV packs I designed - hopefully they will have got me noticed and give them a taster of my style of work.
I feel I have really benefited from visiting Premier Vision and Indigo. The prints and embellishments that I saw have inspired me to really push myself and create designs to that level for my final collection. It was good to be able to see the designs up close and see what techniques are used and fabrics. I also feel a lot more confident after talking to the design studios and making those contacts because if you don't ask you won't get!
